What is transcription?

Transcription is the process of converting speech or spoken audio into written document.

What is the job function of a transcriber at Umritun?

As a freelance transcriber, you will be given access to audio files with varying lengths (e.g. 5-30 minutes).

Information about pay, deadline, formatting requirements, and style guide will be provided together with the audio file.

You have the option to accept or reject the file.

Your job is to transcribe the audio file you’ve claimed using a transcription software of your choosing.

Submit the completed document within the specified turnaround time.

Can I apply as a transcriber if I do not live in the US?

Absolutely! Freelance transcribers can work from any country and location.

What are the application requirements?

We are looking for applicants who have a strong mastery of the English language and excellent grammar skills, and who can adhere to our Style Guide.

No prior experience or special qualification is necessary.

What special equipment and programs do I need to get started?

A stable internet connection.

A desktop or laptop.

Headset / headphone (with noise cancelling feature preferred but not required)

Transcription software for audio and video

MS Word

If your application is accepted, you will be given a short training to get yourself familiarized with the process and the style guide.

Do you provide training?

Yes. We provide training in the form of tutorials and practice jobs.

We provide regular feedback and coaching to help you succeed in your career as a freelance transcriber.

How do I get paid?

We send out payments weekly through PayPal, GCash and Bank Deposit/Fund Transfer for transcription jobs completed in the prior week.

Payments are either in US dollar or in PHP Peso.
